Sanchioni Butler’s work has been defined by a long-standing commitment to workers, to equity, and to the belief that change begins at the ground level.

 

A lifelong labor organizer with more than three decades of experience, Butler began her career at Ford Motor Company in 1988, where she became deeply involved in labor organizing through the United Auto Workers. Over time, she emerged as a strong voice within the union, supporting organizing efforts across the South and advocating for workplace fairness in states including Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Mississippi.

Her work has also extended beyond the United States. Through collaborations with trade unionists in South Africa, Brazil, France, and Japan, Butler has engaged in broader conversations about labor rights and human dignity, reinforcing her commitment to advancing equity globally.

Since retiring in 2018, she has continued her advocacy through community engagement and policy work. She is the Founder and Principal Consultant of Impact Strategies and Consulting LLC, and has held roles including Senior Organizer with Jobs to Move America, Political Campaign Coordinator for the Mississippi AFL-CIO, and American Rescue Plan Coordinator for the Mississippi Association of Educators.

Across every role, Butler’s approach has remained consistent: building power through people. Whether leading workshops, supporting organizing efforts, or working within policy spaces, she continues to focus on strengthening communities and expanding access to opportunity.
