The Jackson City Branch NAACP is pleased with the federal court's decision to allow legal proceedings to continue regarding the withholding of federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) water infrastructure funds intended for the City of Jackson. Judge Wingate's ruling provides standing to our case, demonstrating that equitable treatment regarding essential public services should be a basic human right for the residents of Jackson. Mississippi's capital city should not be forced to endure a convoluted system intentionally designed to withhold funds from supporting our water system.
The Jackson City Branch NAACP will continue advocating for fairness, equity, and investment in communities that have too often been overlooked. We will remain dedicated to ensuring that the voices and concerns of Jackson residents are heard.
